On the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France is the name of 20227 Private George Price Hunter serving with the 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment who died 17/09/1916.

Husband of Edith Hunter, of 33, Princess St., Spennymoor, Co. Durham.

In Spennymoor Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of

the beloved son of George and Edith Hunter
who died December 10th 1916
aged 2 years

who was killed in action in France
on September 17th 1916
aged 23 years
