On Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the name of S/11176 Rifleman James Davey Burk serving with 7th Battalion Rifle Brigade who died 07/12/1915.

Son of Elizabeth Ann Burk, of 5, Neale St., Dean Bank, Ferryhill, Co. Durham, and the late James D. Burk.

In Duncombe Cemetery Ferryhill is a family headstone which reads:-

In
loving memory of
James Burke
who was accidentally killed
at Dean and Chapter Colliery
Feb. 25th 1921 aged 66 years
Also James son of the above
killed in France Dec. 7th 1915
aged 30 years
also Elizabeth
wife of the above
died 22nd Feb. 1950 aged 89 years

James Burke is possibly remembered at Ferryhill as J. Davy on F38.92
