Sgt. Raw was the pilot of Handley Page Hampden I P2127 of 12 Maintenance Unit, which crashed on approach to R.A.F. Kirkbride on an air test. It came down at Little Bampton, Cumberland, at 14.20, and caught fire, killing Sgt. Raw and a civilian engine fitter, Mr. Alan Robson.
