Loy, O., LAC., 1943
In Medjez-el-Bab Cemetery, Tunisia, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 952323 Leading Aircraftman Owen Loy, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 26/01/1943.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

L.A.C. Loy of 255 Squadron was killed by shrapnel during an enemy air raid on the R.A.F. airfield at Souk-el-Arba.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle Wednesday 10/11/1943 reported the following:

Mr. and Mrs. Owen Loy, of 26, Taylor Street, Consett, have lost their two sons within a few months. Owen, the elder son, was a L.A.C. in the R.A.F.V.R. He was killed in North Africa in February of this year at the age of 26. Their younger son, Francis (21) an able seaman in the Royal Navy, has now been reported missing, presumed killed.

Owen Loy is remembered with his brother Francis in Blackhill on B145.01
