Sgt Hutchinson was killed in Wellington X LN461 'H' of 37 Squadron, which was lost on a operation against the Steyr Aircraft Works, in southern Austria. The Wellington left the R.A.F. base at Tortorella, Italy, but nothing further was heard from the aircraft, and no trace was ever found of the Wellington or its crew of five.
