Stanley New Cemetery

In Stanley New Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 153174 Flying Officer Raymond Taylor, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 206 Squadron, who died 14/09/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Flying Officer Taylor was killed in Liberator GR.VI BZ961 of 206 Squadron, which into a hillside near Leuchars. The Liberator had been returning from R.A.F. Tain, to where it had been diverted the previous day at the end of an anti-submarine patrol. The aircraft crashed some 3000 metres short of the runway in bad visibility, killing all 11 crew, as well as an R.A.F. meteorologist also on board.
He was killed in the same incident as W/Off. A.W.H. Watson

He is remembered in Annfield Plain on A38.09 and in Stanley on S135.05
