Son of Mark and Esther Isabella Watson, of Jesmond, Newcastle-on-Tyne. B.Sc. (Dunelm.)
Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Warrant Officer Watson was killed in Liberator GR.VI BZ961 of 206 Squadron, which crashed into a hillside near Leuchars. The Liberator had been returning from R.A.F. Tain, to where it had been diverted the previous day at the end of an anti-submarine patrol. The aircraft crashed some 3000 metres short of the runway in bad visibility, killing all 11 crew, as well as an R.A.F. meteorologist also on board.
He was killed in the same incident as F/Off. R Taylor
Albert William Hood Watson is remembered in Jesmond on J1.13 and in Newcastle on NUT145
