Hutchinson, H., F/Off., 1920
In Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Flying Officer Harold Hutchinson, serving with the Royal Air Force, 6 Squadron, who died 02/08/1920.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
F/O Hutchinson was killed in Bristol Fighter H1462, which crashed due to unknown reasons on a reconnaissance flight from Baghdad. The pilot, F/O Robert Daniel Cecil Palmer, D.F.C., and his observer, F/O Hutchinson, were killed.

The Yorkshire Post 10/08/1920 reports:
“Flight-Lieut. Harold Hutchinson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hutchinson, of Annfield Plain, Durham, was killed in Mesopotamia on August 2nd while engaged in reconnoitring.”

No.6 Squadron was formed in 1914. In 1919 it was located in the Middle East, flying R.E.8 aircraft, and was known as No.6 (Army Co-operation) Squadron. It operated in Mesopotamia and Kurdistan.
