In Ropery Lane Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 57654 Private Frederick Atkinson, serving with the 24th Casualty Clearing Station, Royal Army Medical Corps who died 10/02/1916.

The headstone reads:-

who died at Waldridge Fell February 3rd 1903
aged 16 years

Elizabeth Atkinson
who died December 12th 1915
aged 60 years
Also Pvt. Fred Atkinson R.A.M.C.

died at Liverpool February 10th 1916
aged 26 years
Also the above William Atkinson
who died November 25th 1929
aged 71 years
Also Elizabeth Atkinson
died 7th June 1952
aged 79 years

My Lord my God hath done all things well

He was the son of George William and Elizabeth Atkinson, of 14, Chester Street, Waldridge Fell, Chester-le-Street. He had enlisted at Newcastle.

Frederick Atkinson is remembered at Chester-le-Street on C105.01, C105.12, C105.15 and C105.40 and at Waldridge on W130.02
