Memorial Description
Stained glass window of a single light showing an angel administering to a dying soldier. Above the angel is the regimental badge. Below is the text “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life”.
Underneath is a plaque 6 inches high x 21 inches wide. This has a single line border. Lettering is in Roman capitals.
"The window depicts the Angel of Life with a wreath of laurel leaves in his hand and a dead officer in khaki. The features of the officer are those of Lieut. Tristram."

1. The
Newcastle Journal 04/12/1916 reports:- Lieut. Tristram who was 22 years of age was the only son of Major F.T. Tristram and Mrs Tristram of Craig Lea Darlington and formerly of The Cottage Castle Eden. He was also the grandson of the late Chancellor T.H. Tristram K.C. of the Diocese of London and great nephew of Canon Tristram of Durham formerly Rector at Castle Eden.

Sunderland Echo 04/12/1916 reports:-
He was educated at Wellington College and was in the school shooting eight. He afterwards passed to Sandhurst and was gazetted to the 3rd Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment in September 1911. Later he was transferred to the 1st Battalion and was abroad with his regiment when war broke out. In September 1914 he was made first Lieutenant and he arrived in France on November 5th of the same year. A promising young office he was held in high esteem by all his friends.
