Monument with slight pyramid top 28 inches high on plinth 8 inches high. The monument is 18 inches wide x 18 inches deep. The dedication is on one face, the names are carried on two other faces, all in Roman capitals.

1. An article entitled "Lowick and District's Response to the Belgian Refugee crisis 1914-1916", written by Julie Gibbs, can be read in "Tyne & Tweed", Association of Northumberland Local History Societies; 2016; volume 70.

2. The Commonwealth War Grave Commission placed this memorial in Birtley Cemetery when Elisabethville Cemetery was overgrown. In 2016 the headstones in Elisabethville Cemetery were replaced.
