Memorial Description

Refurbishment. “The painting of the woodwork of the Altar-piece and of the Screen & Roof of the chancel, as well as the provision of Riddle curtains to the Altar”. This is in a book which is done by calligraphy and which gives the history of the church .

1. “The painting of the woodwork and the Altar-piece and of the Screen & the Roof of the Chancel, as well as the provision of Riddle curtains to the Altar, were executed as a part of a scheme of decoration carried out under the direction of Major Hubert Adderley of the Coldstream Guards during the years 1922-1925, as a thank-offering for the victory vouchsafed to the nation in the Great War (1914-1918) and as a memorial of the men from the district who served in it."
