The plaque was moved to the village hall situated opposite when the school was sold as a private dwelling.

Memorial Description

Plaque, 3 feet 6 inches high x 2 feet 6 inches wide (106 m x 762 mm), with heavy top decoration. The words "Roll of Honour" are inscribed on the top border, and "1914-1919" on the bottom border. The names of those who died are listed at the top with date of death, and below, those who served are listed in two columns in sans serif capitals.

Notes

1. There is no memorial for 1939-45, although there were two men from the village who died.

a. The first, home on leave, had gone to arrange to have his banns called, had too much to drink and was killed on his motorcycle on the way home.

b. The second was Billy Bell. See Every Name a Story

2. It has been suggested that the memorial was made probably by William Temple, local joiner and undertaker, whose work "had to be perfect". However, photos exist in the Ralph Hedley collection which infer that this was done by that firm.
