Memorial Description

Obelisk, gently tapering, total height approx. 15 feet (4.57m). The words "Lest We Forget" are incised on the side of the column, above a bronze wreath and inverted torch.
The names are on polished panels the front and sides of the plinth.
In front and behind are polished slabs each 2 feet 3 inches high x 3 feet 6 inches wide (682mm x 1.06m) leaning against the bottom steps of the column. The lettering is incised and gilded using Roman capitals throughout.
The whole is set within a small flowerbed with chain link fence surround.

Dalbeattie granite with bronze wreath.

Notes

1. The chain fence seems to have been added later, as an old photo shows the memorial standing isolated on the village green.

2. The plaque for Marsden was probably produced after the demolition of the village.
