a. Unveiled 8th May 1921 by Prof. R.C. Bosanquet of Rock Hall. Dedicated by Rev. W.R. Fairclough, Vicar.

Memorial Description

Cross of Celtic type 2.59m (8 feet 6 inches) high on a base 91 cm x 68 cm. The dedication and names from 1914-18 are incised on the front face of the pedestal and painted black. The single name from 1939-45 is incised and painted black on the right hand side. All lettering is in sans serif capitals.

1. It had been proposed to unveil the monument in January, but was postponed "to escape wintry conditions".
