Unveiled 14th February 2001 by J.M. Marr, Mayor of Spennymoor Town Council.
Memorial Description
Plaque of semi-circular shape set at an angle on the top of its stand. It is of brass, on which the dedication is in Roman capitals. The wrought iron stand carries a roundel which depicts a long-beaked crested bird sucking at a flower.
Below this is a plaque telling of the dedication in Roman capitals.
The whole stands behind a small fenced enclosure full of flowers, open at the front, in which wreaths can be placed.

Brass plaques, wrought iron plinth.

(Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve)
and Sgt. Pilot Clifford James Scott
(Royal Canadian Air Force)
who tragically lost their lives
on 14th February 1942
whilst each flew a Hurricane
fighter plane over Tudhoe Colliery
