Apparently in 1912, on the 100th anniversary of the date of death.

Memorial Description

Plaque, approx. 3 feet high x 2 feet wide set in a wood frame. The frame at the top is carved with rosettes. The plaque has a single line border culminating in roundels in each corner. There is a small cross on either side of the words “To the Glory of God”. Lettering is in several fonts with a tiny dot between each word.

at Warden Hill in the Parish of Stanhope
serving with
his Regiment - the 43rd Light Infantry,
in the Peninsular War.
He fought for his Country and the Liberties of Europe
at “Busaco” “Fuentes de Onoro”
and
volunteering for the “Forlorn Hope”
at the storming of Ciudad Rodrigo,

Jan. 19th 1812,
Was mortally wounded in sight of victory,
And expired in the prime of life.
A sacrifice to duty.
Jan. 27th 1812.

To the Glory of God

who was born 1785
