Present condition

The building had been used by various businesses for a time, but has now been leased from Newcastle City Council by Anglican Catholic Church who restored the memorial in 1999.

Notes

1. There was a fire in the church in 1946.

2. Extract from letter from Mrs. Marriner 2nd March 1999. “I will let you know if we are able to restore the lettering that is missing. Obviously we will have to obtain permission from the Council. One of our Church members has regilded the lettering carved into the wood, so the names are now quite legible.”
