Original Location

United Reformed Church (former Scottish Presbyterian Church). Now closed.

Present Location

The Church was closed, and was converted into a house in 1999. The windows were removed by the Minister.

Memorial Description

Stained glass window of four lights, all identical, depicting the Burning Bush. The one remaining in St.Cuthbert’s Church indicates that there were four arched windows, at the top of which was a roundel, depicting the burning bush, with the motto “Nec tamen consumebatur” ("But it was not consumed”).
A plaque 1 foot high x 1 foot 4 inches wide bears the names. It is of brown metal, there is a single line border. The names are listed in two columns divided by a vertical line. Lettering is incised and whitened in Roman upper case throughout.
Beneath this – in St.Cuthbert’s church – is a brass plaque 8 inches high x 10 inches wide giving details of the transfer to St.Cuthbert’s, lettering incised and whitened using Roman upper case.

Names

Notes

1. One window was placed in Norham St.Cuthbert’s. The location of the others is not known.

2. Sheelagh Hume of Norham says that one window was rescued by local resident G. Straughan, a plumber.

3. Sheelagh Hume also attended the final service and took a photograph.
