The dates are carved proud in sans serif numerals.

Mr. W. Duncan carved the badge, which is identical for both School and Town, in the newly-located library.

Notes

1. Although the Library was planned at the same time as the plaque on the cross, there were insufficient funds for both.

2. The Library and fittings were transferred to the new school in 1967, where some cupboards formed part of a mini-museum. These cupboards are now in the Religious Education Dept. The School badge which surmounted them has been mounted in the entrance hall to the Upper School.

3. It is unknown whether the present Library is still considered to be the War Memorial.

Morpeth Herald 05/11/1948 reports proposal to erect a plaque on the cross, and to build a library and books later.
