Memorial Description
Plaque 3 feet x 3 feet in classic style, with shallow domed top on pattress 3 feet 6 inches x 3 feet 6 inches. At the top is a swag hanging down with the words "Our glorious dead" incised above it. On each side of the main panel is an anchor in half relief. The dates are incised in the bottom border. The names are listed in a single column. Lettering is in Gothic upper and lower case for the title, the words "of Mitford Parish" are in italic capitals, and the names are in elaborate capitals.

Notes
1. There was disagreement over whether ranks and regiments should be included. Canon McLeod wanted all details, the Parish Council wanted only the names.
2. A tree was planted in the grounds as a “living memorial” and 20 years later the memorial for 1939-45 was placed beneath it.
