Memorial Description
Plaque 52.5cm high x 68.5cm wide. There is a wide patterned border of Celtic knots and leaves. At top left is a crest of a deer (?) with the motto "Patriam Amo" ("I love my country"). At top right is the badge of the Queen's Regiment (a lamb bearing a standard). The lettering is in Gothic upper and lower case, with the name and the motto each in a cartouche.

who fell near Montauban in the first attack
of the Battle of the Somme 1st July 1916,
this brass is erected by his brother officers.
