Memorial Description
Circled cross of rough granite, standing on a double pedestal, total height 6 feet. The main inscription is on the front, details of the Military Medal are on the left side, and a quotation on the right side. All lettering is in lead sans serif capitals.

War on Oct 27 1917, aged 21 years
and interred in Solferino Cemetery

This memorial is erected
by his many friends as a tribute
of honour to his supreme sacrifice.
Right side:
"To live in the hearts
of those we leave behind
is never to die".
Left side:
He was awarded the
Military Medal
for conspicuous bravery
on the field
at the Battle of the Somme.
