Memorial Description

Book of Remembrance. Leather bound. It is highly illuminated. The names are listed two to a page. All lettering is calligraphed, using varied coloured inks.
The cabinet in which it is contained is tall, and has the dates of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 incised in the top panel. The lower panel carries a wreath raised in half relief surmounted by a horn. The bottom panel is in linenfold.

Inscription

The Church of / the Holy Trinity / Jesmond / Part of the east end of which / was built and consecrated in / the year 1905 was finally / completed by the gifts of / Mr. & Mrs. R.S. Dalgleish / and consecrated by the Bishop / on Newcastle 24th Sept. 1922 / as a memorial to those of / Northumberland and Tyneside / who fell in the War 1914-1918.
Since that time another / Great War 1939-45 / has been fought and won / at heavy cost to many. / We desire therefore that / the names of those / of the parish and congregation / who gave their lives in the / two conflicts / should be recorded in this / memorial book / and their sacrifice ever held / in grateful remembrance.

The Book was created and inscribed by Rev. J.R.H. Prophet, the current Vicar.
The cabinet was made by Mr. C. Welsh and carved by Mr. A. Wootton, both members of the Church.

     the Holy Trinity
     Jesmond
