Unveiled 14th April 1923 by Lieut.Col. C.W. Brims, M.C., commanding Hebburn Battery, 74th Brigade, R.F.A.; dedicated by Rev. J. Smith, Vicar of St. John’s.

Memorial Description

Polished Brass Plaque, 48 inches (1.21m) long x 36 inches (608mm) wide. There is a wide border of stylized flowers and leaves. The dates “1914” and “1918” are each inside a wreath in the two upper corners. The name of the club forms an arc between them.
The names are in seven columns, the central one is outlined and contains the names of those who died. Below these are listed those who gained Honours. In the bottom right hand corner is another box containing the two names of those who died in 1939-45. Lettering is in Roman capitals for the dedication and sans serif capitals for the names.

Notes

1. There was a total membership of approx. 500.

2. The memorial was originally framed in oak.

3. Transferred to Civic Centre, Campbell Park Road and rededicated 20th October 2007. In 2015 it was taken to Hebburn Central in Glen Street.

4. It is now on permanent display at the foyer in a lockable glass cabinet. No longer in its oak frame.
