Memorial Description:

Plaque on granite block with rounded centre top which contains a wreath raised in half relief.

Lettering is raised in relief and slightly burnished.

This panel was similar to the panels on the cenotaph at Jarrow.

47 men who died.
TRANSCRIPT NEEDED

Notes:

1. This was unveiled on the same day as the cenotaph at Jarrow and plaques in the other departments of the firm. J2.01 J2.27 and J2.28 2. The names are the same as those on the cenotaph at Jarrow.

3. The workmen of the steelworks department who had served were entertained to dinner by their fellow-workmen at Palmer’s Hostel, Hebburn Colliery. 300 invitations had been issued.
