Notes

1. Faculty reads:

"To the glory of God and in loving memory of the Officers, Noncommissioned Officers and Men of this parish who fought and fell" in the Great War of 1914-1918 for their King and Country in the cause of Freedom, Truth and Justice, and whose names are inscribed below. Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

2. The plan of the church drawn up by the architects reads: “Proposed war memorials- memorial tablet, font, etc.”
Added to which, the Northern Echo report states “The Bishop of Newcastle dedicated the newly erected font and unveiled a tablet bearing the names of 21 officers and men who fell in the war”. Clarification as to whether the font is part of the war memorial would be appreciated.
