Memorial Description

Triptych with pointed top 3 feet 6 inches high. Glass covered picture in centre, entitled "Remembrance", showing a young lady near a gravestone, with foliage round her feet and the quotation to the left.
The doors are 2 feet 9 inches high and carry the names in a single column on the inside of each which remains open.

Notes

1. The building had been a district meeting hall before it became a school so the memorial had to be moved from the main room to being placed above the door in a small hallway.

2. Other examples of this picture can be seen at Felton F14.04 and Boulmer B49.03 in Northumberland.

3. The prime movers in obtaining a memorial for the school were Mr. and Mrs. Gill, who were teachers. Mr. Gill died 15 days before the unveiling of the memorial. (Fuller report by Harry Beadle in book mentioned below)

4. The book "The Life and Death of a Community" gives a list of names with full Christian names.
