a. Unveiled 8th November 1930 by Major J.A. Louis Downey D.S.O. of West Hartlepool.

Memorial Description

Cross of wheeled type, total height 9 feet. It stands on a tapering pedestal 2 feet high on two steps, 3 feet 3 inches x 2 feet, and 2 feet 4 inches x 11 inches. The whole set into a small square paved enclosure. The dedication is on the front face of the plinth, the names for 1914-18 on two other sides, those for 1939-45 on the back. The lettering is of black lead pinned on in sans serif capitals, apart from the word “Sacred” which is in Gothic lower case.
