a. Unveiled April 1920 by J.A. Hildyard of Horsley Hall. Dedicated by Canon Crudace, vicar of Eastgate.

Memorial Description

Cross. Large pedestal with tapered shoulders (6 feet 8 inches high x 3 feet 9 inches wide x 2 feet 7 inches deep at the bottom), surmounted by a small encircled cross, the whole standing on two steps.
On the front of the pedestal is fixed a plain cross, above the plaque which names those who died from both wars.
On the back of the pedestal, the words “Those who served in the Great War” are on a scroll fixed at the top. Below this, has been affixed a shield (2 feet high x 1 foot 9 inches wide) which carries the names in a single column of those who served in the Great War
The lettering and dedication are incised using elaborate capitals, the quotations being in italic capitals.
