Memorial Description

Roll of Honour behind glass in wood frame with elaborate top culminating in a carved gilded wreath at centre. On the roll itself there is a wide illuminated border with gilded lines. The dedication at the top is handwritten in upper and lower case uncial type letters. The names are listed in two columns inside frame made of red and gilded triangles. The names of those who died are outlined in gold.

For our sakes and out Country’s / and in the discharge of the duties of citizenship and / loyalty these members and associates / of St. Paul’s Congregational Church / and Sunday School, Newcastle upon Tyne / served in the British Army and Navy during the European / War 1914 to 1919, thereby helping to remove the danger which / threatened the nations as a result of German militarism.
Names set in gold are those who lost their lives on active service /
