Notes
1.
Newcastle Journal 08/08/1945 reports that a cheque for £1000 is to be handed over for the endowment of two cots at Darlington Memorial Hospital. The recognition fund sponsored by the Darlington Twenty Club and it was originally suggested that a hospital should be endowed in Vancouver but his widow who lives in British Columbia informed the Mayor of Darlington Councillor J Bulmer that she thought it more appropriate that it should be in Darlington. Pilot Officer McMullen's sister is now in this country and she will be invited to unveil the memorial tablet above the cots.
2. This plaque has now been hung on the wall in the hospital, and was rededicated at the Remembrance Day Service on November 3rd 2007 by the Senior Hospital Chaplin Rev. Brian Selmes
