Memorial Description
Stone built bus shelter, with a slate roof, situated on an area of grass just off the cross roads. The plaque is on the rear inside wall. There is a stone floor and below the plaque is a wooden bench. The plaque is of dressed stone with lettering incised using black sans serif capitals.

Present condition
Although in reasonable condition, there are some graffiti to the face of the plaque. The general condition of the shelter is good, but slightly weathered, and containing bird dirt.
Notes
1. The only other instance of a plaque in a bus shelter erected in the north east was at Waldridge near Chester-le-Street. That bus shelter was demolished and the plaque placed in the local parish rooms.
