Memorial Description
Plaque measuring 15 inches high x 26 inches wide (381 mm x 660 mm). There is a patterned border of oak leaves and acorns. In the top left hand corner is a very plain cross and the badge of the Northumberland Fusiliers in the top right hand corner, both raised in half relief. Letters are in Roman upper and lower case, whilst the bottom line is in italics.

Cantab, Deacon, Captain 13th Northumberland Fusiliers.
He was mortally wounded while leading his men in action on
3 July near Fricourt, France, and died at Rouen 24 July 1916,
aged 27 years.
A brave soldier of Christ.
