Memorial Description
Ambulance chassis type F2 15/20 HP F.I.A.T. It carried an inscription plate on which the lettering is in Roman capitals.

Public subscription. Postcards of the ambulance were sold at 1d each.

Notes
1. This was a joint memorial with the obelisk

2. Prior to this, the ambulance had been horse-drawn. This was sold for £20 when the new ambulance was donated.
3. The National Health Service bought the ambulance in 1948.
4. “Since the taking over of the Memorial Van by the Burnopfield Brigade on January 29th it has been called upon to convey people in sickness and accident 110 times, so it will be seen most useful work is being done in the district, beside which the public and subscribers have the use of all nursing utensils free on producing a note from their doctor. Anyone wishing to help on the work can do so by sending a subscription, however small, to the Secretary, which will be thankfully received”.
