Tower officially opened on 22nd September 1923 by Mr. U. Ritson, and dedicated by Bishop of Durham, Dr. Henson. The clock was started by Col. W.H. Ritson. Plaque unveiled by Col. J.R. Ritson.
Memorial Description
Tower, clock and peal of bells.
There is a plaque which bears the dedication. It has a raised edge. At centre top is a cross. Lettering and cross are in raised Roman capitals.
A framed text alongside gives the history.

How money was raised
U.A. Ritson, owners of Burnhope Colliery, subscribed.
Sculptor, Artist or Designer
Bells were made by Harrington, Holland of Coventry.
Ownership and maintenance
The bells were handed over to the vicar and wardens to hold for the parish at the dedication ceremony.
Notes
1. The peal of bells was hung in a temporary tower for which a Faculty had been obtained, and was dedicated 21st August 1920. The permanent tower was built after the Government released the building trade regulation.

3. The oak doors to the tower were opened by Mr. U. Ritson, principal of the Burnhope Colliery Co. standing in for Mr. T.Y. Greener, agent to the South Moor Colliery Co. Ltd.
