1. Each of the families of the three men named on this memorial were presented with an illuminated personalized certificate which read: We, the members and friends of the Ashington P.M. Sunday School, desire to express our deepest sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. (Name) and family in the great loss they sustained by the death of their beloved son (name and rank) who gave his life for his country’s sake on (date) in the Great European War 1914-18). Earnestly praying that God may support and comfort you in the great thought of Victory coming to the world by sacrifice. Duty nobly done brings its own reward. For his country’s sake”.
