Present Location

This building closed as the HQ for the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1999. The new location of the memorial has not been ascertained.

Dedication, Creation or Publication date

Unveiled 27th April 1924 by Lieut.Col. Pinkney, dedicated by the Vicar of Newcastle.

Memorial Description

Plaque 36 inches high x 30 inches high (914 mm x 762 mm), with fluted pillars at each side, and a rounded centre top. Part of the dedication is carried on the border at the top and the rest at the bottom. On the main panel, at centre top is the badge of the Northumberland Fusiliers, coloured in half relief, with the dates "1914" and "1918" on either side. The names are listed in three columns. All lettering is in gilded Roman capitals throughout.

Notes

1. This was originally in the Sergeant’s Mess of the St. George’s Drill Hall in Newcastle.

2. There are two conflicting statements in the same newspaper:
Underneath the photo, it states that the unveiling was performed by Commanding Officer, Lieut.Col. A.D.S. Rogers, T.D. In the newspaper article which accompanies it, the unveiling was done by Lieut.Col. Pinkney
