Unveiled 6th November 1923 by Dr. Hay of Forest Lodge, Woodlands; dedicated by Rev. Alfred Lee, Congregational Church, Newcastle.

To the glory of God and in loving memory of the fallen of this church and school, who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1918.

The memorial was accepted by the trustees of the church at the unveiling.

Notes

1. Dr Hay was described as “a stranger, taking an interest in the locality”.

2. The names listed were not given in order of rank, but collectively.

3. At the service, “Miss Constance Hay then rendered a touching solo in a beautiful contralto voice. Dr Hay presided at the harmonium in a very able manner”.

4. The chapel had been newly painted and inscribed above the plaque on the wall was “Praise ye the Lord”.

5. Capt. J. Barrow of Blackhill presided in place of Mr. Alsop who had to attend a very important meeting.
