Memorial Description

Roll of Honour.
“The border, which is an Oriental design, tipped with gold, contains six watercolour drawings, illustrating an aeroplane battle in the sky, an airship patrol over the merchant service, a tank in action, a field gun in action, a man-o’-war bombarding, a seaplane starting away on its mission, and two black and white sketches depicting Lord Kitchener and Sir John Jellicoe. In the centre of the title is a clever little illustration of the New Brancepeth Workmen’s Club and representations of the Union Jack. The lettering, which is in Old English form, is artistically illuminated, and the production is indeed a real credit to the designer who has spared no pains in his desire to execute a roll of honour which will be worthy of the sacrifices of the men who went forth from the club when the war broke out”.
