Memorial Description

Plaque. In the top left hand corner is the badge of the Durham Light Infantry, and in the top right hand corner is the badge of the Royal Flying Corps.

To the Glory of God
and to the Bright and Beautiful Memory of
Vernon Forster Stewart,
Lieut. 8th D.L.I., attached Royal Flying Corps, as Pilot, aged 25 years.
Killed in action with his Observer 2nd Lieut. J.G. Troup.
over Vimy Ridge, France, on May 13th 1917. Buried at Bruay, France.
Also in Memory of his great companion
Lieut. W.O. Forster, 8th D.L.I.,
who died of wounds in France, Sept. 22nd 1916.
