Notes
1. From the club, over 200 joined up. 6 had been recognised for conspicuous bravery; 32 were killed.
2. Four members who gained distinctions were given a gold watch. Of these:
Robert Watson: “Stuck to guns, got up ammunition and saved the situation with the enemy close upon them”.
Thos. Foster. “With a comrade, volunteered to clear outpost of six men. Captured post and brought guns back after accounting for men”.
T. Tweddle: “Through severe shellfire the ration convoy was stopped, and he volunteered on three successive nights in getting full rations up”.
Jos. Bell: “Belgian Cross for good all-round work on the field under severe circumstances”.
3. Present at the ceremony was Cllr. W. Braidford, whose three sons are named on the Roll.
4. Major Shield should have addressed the members at the ceremony but was absent.
