Memorial Description

Roll of Honour, highly ornamented. Round the edge is a border of leaves. In each corner is a shields bearing (top left) a Tudor rose; (top right) the English lion; (bottom left) cannot be identified from the photo and (bottom right) the crest of the United Kingdom.
At centre top is the Union flag crossed with the English flag. On each side is a scroll containing the words “Thanks be to God who giveth us the Victory.” At the bottom, below the royal crest, is another scroll which tells what happened to some of the men.
The names are listed in three columns divided by red lines.
The memorial is handwritten using black lettering with some red initials.

In commemoration of the men of this Church who / in the Navy or Army served their Country and the cause of / Freedom and Right during the Great War 1914-1918.

1. “There was unveiled in Westmorland Presbyterian church yesterday a memorial tablet with a roll of honour to the memory of some 88 young men, members of the congregation, who had served in the war. The roll of honour was unveiled by Mrs. H.B. Badenoch, of Fenham, and the tablet by Mrs. T. Mitchell”.
