Notes

1. A brass plaque tells the story of the beginnings of the church:
To the Glory of God / The first Glebe Church was built in the year 1823 / and rebuilt in 1865. / The present Glebe Church and Schools were erected 1889 / and the classrooms added in 1904. / Hitherto hath the Lord Helped us.

2. The classrooms were late sold to pay for the 1997 redecoration.

South Shields Gazette 08/09/1977 reports re-opening of church after redecoration; 17/07/1982 and 16/09/1982 reports decision to close church due to serious structural problems; 22/07/1983 reports further deterioration; 04/03/1984; 31/03/1984 and 03/05/1984 report proposed final service; 08/05/1984 reports final weekend and exhibition; 25/11/1986 reports arson attack on building; church was demolished in 1987; 19/10/1990; 03/05/1991 reports proposed development
