Unveiled 5th February 1922 by Lieutenant H.V. Marks, M.C. assisted by Rabbi J. Kyanski amd Rev. S. Franklin.

Memorial Description

Plaque with dome at centre top. Along the top is an inscription in Hebrew. The plaque is divided into three panels. The two outer ones bear names in two columns on each, presumably those who served. The centre panel also contains words which are indecipherable from an old press photo. At the bottom is the title.

Notes

1. The rank of H.V. Marks, who unveiled the memorial, is variously given as “Lieut.” and “2nd Lieut.”

2. A collection was taken for the local hospitals.

3. Rabbi Kyanski speaks about virile antisemitism much more vigorous in character than was the case before the war and that despite the quota of manhood which they had contributed to the fighting forces.
