Notes

1 “When the church was erected, in 1904, it was not found possible, for want of funds, to raise the tower beyond the height of 40 feet. According to plan, this should have been surmounted by a spire to a height of 85 feet. Thus the church, from an architectural point of view is incomplete.” The proposal was to raise £1,500 to have the spire built as the war memorial.

Newspaper cuttings, photos or archival material

Illustrated Chronicle 03/06/1918 reports unveiling.

Newcastle Daily Chronicle 02/01/1919 carries the proposal in Note 1 above.
