Unveiled 16th February 1921 by Lieut. Col. H.C. Millican; dedicated by Rev. W.H. Anning, Vicar of Christ Church and chaplain to the Royal Air Force.

Memorial Description

Roll of Honour, “handsome carved oak board, with the names of the fallen men inscribed in gold-leaf lettering.” It has three panels.

Children raised £13. Plaque donated anonymously.

Sculptor, Artist or Designer

Mr. M. Forster, engraver of Nun Street, Newcastle. A joiner, who wished to remain anonymous.

Notes

1. 93 former pupils volunteered.

2. The joiner who donated the board presented it as a thank offering for his own safe return from service abroad.

3. According to the Newcastle Weekly Chronicle, the plaque was designed by a man wishing to remain anonymous, but it was made by Mr. M. Forster, engraver of Nun Street, Newcastle.
