Notes

1. In 1895 a circular was issued on the proposed formation of a purely amateur association football club which boys could join on leaving school.
The first meeting was held in the house of Mrs. Hope, Leazes Terrace. Present were: Norman Reid; Fred Anderson; Cyril Hope; James Frain; Dennis Hill. Secretary was Mr. Edward Hall of Leazes Terrace. Colours were to be white shirt, blue knickers, red stockings. Meetings were to be at the Hotspur Hotel, Percy Street on Saturday nights.
The first match was played on Bull Park Recreation Ground, versus Tynemouth which Tynemouth won 5-1, the scorer for the Bohemians being Warburton.

2. During the Great War, it was not considered advisable to commence playing football as it was considered to be “against public feeling and a hindrance to recruiting”.
