Ellsbury, R., Stkr., 1943
On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 126855 Stoker 1st Class Robert Ellsbury, serving with the Royal Navy who died 16/04/1943.

Son of Robert and Hilda Ellsbury, of West Cornforth, Co. Durham.

HMS Pakenham was a lead destroyer of 1550 tons. It was lost on 16th April 1943 when it was sunk by own forces after damage in action with destroyers in Sicily.

Robert Ellsbury is remembered in Cornforth on C115.03 and C115.04 and on our List of Ships’ crews
