In Taukkyan War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 166717 Flying Officer William Oliver Davison, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 13/07/1945.

Heslop’s Local Advertiser 15/6/1946 carries a notice which reads:
Davison – Pelaw, Flying Officer William Oliver, Bomb Aimer, R.A.F.V.R., killed in Burma on July 13th 1945 in flying accident. Buried in Akyab.

F.Off. Davison was serving with 62 Sqdn. He was a crew member of Dakota IV KN457 which took off on a supply sortie. It had been airborne for about half an hour , climbing rapidly to 8000 feet. Later it was seen in a left hand spin from 4,000 feet. It crashed into a swamp. Examination showed that the pilot was not in the cockpit, and it is thought that he had allowed another member of the crew to fly the aircraft but was unable to regain control when the aircraft went out of control and crashed near Sabada Akyab. All five crew members died.
